Strategic Website Development

Community Websites & Digital Hubs

Accessible, strategically structured websites that help people understand your work, take part and see the difference you make.

For charities, CICs, cultural programmes, grassroots organisations and community-led initiatives.

Starting ranges are shown for guidance. Final scope, fee and timetable are agreed after discovery.

One website may need to serve a resident, parent, volunteer, partner and funder.

When all of those people are treated as one general audience, information becomes harder to navigate and the organisation becomes harder to trust. CIS helps clarify who needs to use the website, what each person needs to do, and which structure the team can genuinely sustain.

  • Can people find programmes, events, opportunities and support easily?
  • Does the website communicate trust, safeguarding, accountability and impact?
  • Is the content accessible, current and manageable?
  • Which features are useful now—and which would create unnecessary work?

A specialist pathway for organisations rooted in participation and place.

Charities

Make programmes, support, evidence and partnership opportunities easier to understand.

CICs & social enterprises

Connect social purpose, services, trading activity and impact within one credible public presence.

Cultural programmes

Give events, resources, participation and creative work a clear, accessible structure.

Grassroots organisations

Build a proportionate website that welcomes local people without creating an unsustainable system.

Begin with the smallest structure that can meet the real need.

Private spaces, memberships and advanced functions are introduced only where there is an operational need, an appropriate established platform and enough capacity to administer them safely.

Every new account, directory or communication channel creates work.

Moderation, consent, data protection, safeguarding, security, content management and maintenance must be considered. CIS begins with purpose, audiences, operating capacity and participation—not a predetermined feature list. We will recommend a simpler website when that is the stronger answer.

Discover → Structure → Develop → Test → Launch and Review

01

Discover

Clarify purpose, priorities, audiences, the present website, internal capacity and desired outcomes.

02

Assess & structure

Map audience journeys, content and functionality before agreeing the website architecture.

03

Develop

Create the agreed pages, content system, design and integrations with clear review points.

04

Test & prepare

Check content, navigation, accessibility, forms and relevant devices before launch.

05

Launch & review

Support launch, provide agreed guidance and identify the most useful next improvements.

Full projects are shaped through discovery.

A five-page public website, a multi-programme charity site and a hub with directories, bookings or private areas require very different levels of work. Each proposal defines audiences, pages, functions, accessibility, responsibilities, review points, support, fee and timetable.

Hosting, domain registration, premium extensions, community platforms, payment processing and other third-party subscriptions are not included unless explicitly stated in the proposal.

Practical answers before you enquire.

Do you only work with large charities?

No. CIS works with charities, CICs, grassroots initiatives, cultural programmes and community-led projects. Scope depends on need, capacity and budget.

Can you improve our existing website rather than replace it?

Potentially. The Community Website Intelligence Review can identify whether focused improvements are sufficient or rebuilding would provide better long-term value.

Do you build membership or private community platforms?

CIS does not build a proprietary platform from scratch. Where there is a genuine need, we may recommend and help configure an appropriate established service.

Can you integrate events, newsletters, donations and bookings?

Yes, where suitable tools are available and included in scope. Third-party subscriptions, transaction charges and licences are normally paid directly by the client.

Can you write or reorganise our website content?

Yes. Content strategy, editing, new copy and migration can be included, with responsibilities and review rounds defined in the proposal.

Will the website be accessible?

Accessibility is considered throughout strategy, content, design and development. The precise testing standard and any formal requirement will be agreed in scope.

Can you help us show our impact?

Yes. CIS can structure evidence, outcomes, case studies and partnerships without inventing evidence or making unsupported claims.

How long will a project take?

The timetable depends on scope, content readiness, integrations, stakeholder availability and approval times. A schedule is provided after discovery.

What happens after launch?

Projects can include training, documentation and a post-launch review. Ongoing care, content or development support may be proposed separately.

Who owns the completed website?

Ownership, licences, hosting, third-party tools and transfer arrangements will be stated in the project agreement.

You do not need a finished brief.

Share what you know, what is not working and what you hope the website will help people do. CIS will assess whether a review, focused improvement project or complete build is the most suitable next step.

What would you like help with?

Please do not include beneficiary, health, safeguarding or case information. Your details will not be added automatically to a marketing list.

Start with a proportionate next step.

No obligation to commission a complete build. We will recommend a route based on your organisation’s needs and capacity.
